Baby Wearing

Babywearing is simply carrying a baby around on your body, either in a sling or some other type of baby carrier and as a tradition has been around for thousands of years, for a good reason. After experiencing multiple benefits of babywearing, Medha wanted tospread the concept of ergonomic babywearing particularly to new parents and caretakers. Through organising and participating in events like babywearing flash mobs at city malls, babywearing marathons, trekking wearing babies, and conducting babywearing workshops she has been actively promoting and talking about benefits of babywearing.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is a natural way for babies to receive nutrition throughout their first year and continues to provide health and emotional benefits past the first year.

Medha has been vigorously promoting breastfeedingin creating awareness about feeding in public spaces, extended breastfeeding, benefits of breastfeeding and addressing myths,misinformation and issues aroundbreastfeeding. Shevolunteers to visit new mothers to help them deal with their breastfeeding issues andcounsel new mothers and mothers to be.

Medha, along with her group members-Charu, Swapna and Meena have organized several public breastfeeding feeding events in association with various hospitals and organisations.

Waste management and chemical free lifestyle

Landfill is a very big issue contributing at a large scale to climate change. Addressing this issue is every individual’s responsibility and begins at homes. Medha has been practicing wet waste management for a decade now and has created tutorial videos on simple ways of managing wet-waste at home without sending it out to landfill.Her videos have inspired many to take this up in their homes too thus avoiding much waste going to the landfill. Chemical free lifestyle- If not chemical free, at least minimize the use of chemicals in daily life is Medha’s motto. She makes bio enzymes which are a multipurpose liquid that can replace almost all cleaning agents at home. Basic herbs and home remedies is something she strongly believes and follows at home.Her mantra for life is- RRRR-Theory of Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Repurpose- even if it’s at a very small level, it makes a big difference and she thinks it is everyone's responsibility to do their bit to save the mother earth.

She also gives talks and conducts workshops at schools and community complex on wet waste management,easy methods of kitchen gardening of growing simple food even in the little space one has, chemical free lifestyle and other sustainable practices.

Counselling for women issues

Women today play multiple roles in life which can be exhausting. Domestic violence, anxiety, stress, work, family, relationship problems being some of the issues, they often won’t know where to go or who to reach out to. Medha has been a pillar of support to many such women. She uses dance as a therapy for women in distress. Her psychology background has helped her understand the need to address such important issues and support them in all possible ways
